Q. What is the legality of Released Time Bible Education? Taken from http://www.releasedtime.org
Q. What is the legality of Released Time Bible Education? Taken from http://www.releasedtime.org
A. The legality of a Released Time Program recognizes and reinforces the constitutionally protected right of parents to direct the religious education of their children. Released Time gives opportunity for all children to be released from school time for off premises attendance at the religious education classes of their choice, or not to be released. Before school and after school programs would not allow equal access for all children due to transportation issues and extra-curricular activities
Q. Are there places that I can look up more info about Released Time in general?
A. Two valuable websites are Released Time Education (http://www.rtce.org/) and Released Time Bible Education (http://www.releasedtime.org). These both contain information such as Michigan state laws and court decisions which allow Released Time, and guidelines we have to follow to keep our program running.
Q. What will the students who choose to attend Released Time miss at school?
A. This, as always, is up to the teacher. Class goes on as normal while the Released Time students are dismissed to our sessions. Students who attend Released Time may have to make up homework that they miss while out of class and they may also miss a recess or other activity if the schedules conflict. We do try to schedule sessions to work as well as what we can with the school schedule, so this can be the best fit possible for all the students of the school. But, of course, it is your decision, as a parent, if you want your child to participate in this program or not, for whatever reason. We know that there are many factors in this decision and are praying that God's will, whether that is to attend or not, is being done for each of the students at the school.
Q Why do you only have 5 sessions during the year?
A. After years of trying to come to a balance, 5 sessions seems to be the perfect fit. It is long enough to touch lives with the Word of God and short enough to keep the participation at an energetic level for our entire program. This schedule has been great for the kids, the volunteers, the school, and for opportunities ahead as well. We've seen God do amazing things through this brief but intense time and know that He will continue to bless what He has begun!
During the 22/23 school year, the sessions were increased to include April, May and June. Praise God that we again will be able to have more than 5 session for the 23/24 school year! Go God!

Q. Can I still sign up my child to attend Released Time?
A. You can sign your student up at any time during the school year. If you wish for your child to not attend any longer you can also use those forms for that purpose as well.
